How we respect creators

Every sound in this library was made by somebody. A musician played it. A recordist captured it. We are grateful, and this page is how we show it.

We only list sounds whose licenses allow sharing. The starter library is all CC0: the makers gave these sounds to everyone, on purpose. The license is checked file by file before a sound joins, it is printed on every sound page, and the maker's own license file is kept with the library.

We never claim ownership of anyone's work. Not the sounds, not a share of them, not ever.

Every sound credits its maker and links to the source pack it came from. CC0 does not require credit, but we give it anyway, and the credit line on each sound page is ready to copy. Naming the people who make free things is how more free things get made.

We never guess facts about a sound. If we do not know whether it loops or what tempo it runs at, the page says unknown.
